Card Acceptance for Coin Laundromats

How Does it Work?

WashCard offers two product lines that were designed to give you control over cost and convenience

What do I need to buy?

Site Management Controller (SMC)

The Site Management Controller (SMC) is a wall-mounted server that comes pre-loaded and configured for running the entire WashCard System for your laundromat. It comes complete with all of the networking components, secure router and firewall programmed to meet all PCI-DSS security requirements. WashCard monitors this system and there is a 1-year warranty on the server.

 

Option: Back Office Basics (Customer Provides PC)

We offer operators that are comfortable managing their own server the option of providing their own PC. Operators will still need to be supplied with the secure networking equipment that comes pre-configured for the encrypted wireless network, system software, and setup and secure lock-down of the server by WashCard technicians.

 

Wireless Access Point

Each laundromat location will need a wireless access point (aka. "Smoke Detector") installed in a central location of the laundry facility. All of the wireless components from WashCard whether individual readers or Payment Kiosk will communicate with an access point. For locations with more than 25 individual wireless devices or large stores with challenging layouts additional access points can be added to provide additional wireless coverage (200ft) and redundancy.

 

Wireless Reader Terminal (For Washers and Dryers)

Laundromat operators use the individual wireless readers to cherry-pick specific washers and dryers in their laundromat (most commonly the largest washers and dryers first). Our case-study data shows that if your putting individual readers on more than 30% of your store to start it's possible that your over-spending. Do not be afraid to take baby-steps into credit card acceptance. To make baby-steps possible there are no minimums on reader quantities.

 Wireless Reader Basics:

• Activate a single washer or dryer when outfitted with a Wireless Reader Terminal
• Customer selects how much money they want to send to the machine and swipes their card to pay
• Readers can be programmed to reflect multiple price points, top-off dry time, and time of day pricing.

Payment Kiosk (Customer Interface)

The Payment Kiosk is the cost-effective alternative to adding individual readers to your small and medium sized washers and dryers. Laundromats can have multiple Payment Kiosks to prevent bottle-necks or a single point of failure. Any Kiosk can activate any washer or dryer hooked to a Smart Switch (see below) or retrofitted with an individual Wireless Reader Terminal.

Kiosk Basics:

Step 1- Select Machine Number on the closest Kiosk and press Enter

Step 2- Make Machine Pricing Selection (pricing options based on the machine service selected)

Step 3- Swipe Credit Card or Customer Loyalty Card to make payment

• Install as many Payment Kiosks into your location as-needed.
• Any Kiosk activates Any machine wired into a Smart Switch or Individual Reader
• Absolutely no-wires are run to the Kiosk with the exception of a single power transformer.

16-Port Smart Switch (Machine Interface)

Just-Say-No to cumbersome overhead wire-runs that plagues a traditional kiosk system. A Smart Switch is in a waterproof enclosure and outfitted with a wireless radio to communicate with the onsite server and each of the Payment Kiosks. Each Smart Switch can wire into up to 16 coin acceptors. Each machine is assigned a unique machine number and each machine number could be a different type of washer or dryer. The Smart Switch sends the appropriate cash-value to the machine as well as monitors a 'wash-in-use' signal (if available on the machine).

 

Customer Loyalty Optional Components

For operators that are looking into the customer loyalty options of the WashCard System, below are the various components that are used in a vareity of configurations to meet your marketing needs.

Customer Loyalty Software Upgrade

Laundromat operators taking advantage of the customer loyalty program will be given access the full range of marketing and promotions programs.

Try Before You Buy: Any operator interested in the customer loyalty program can do a free trial at anytime. WashCard will provide you with a stack of generic WashCards and enable the customer loyalty features in your account.

 

Customer Loyalty Basics:

• Standard Pre-payment bonuses. (example. 10% bonus on all payments)
• Month-End-Bonus: Customers earn a bonus of X% based on the previous months washer and dryer purchases. (alternative to up-front-bonus)
• Commercial Billing: Self-service commercial wash accounts can be issued a card and invoiced through WashCard for all of their washing.
• The above are just a few of the more popular programs - we have additional customer loyalty features used extensively with our car wash system operators (example. Fundraising and Organization Support)

Card Dispensing and Recharging Station (CDR)

This is a secure rear-load cabinet that allows your customers to convert bills and credit card payment into a reloadable WashCard. The CDR also acts as a receipt printer for customers that used their credit card directly on machines or at a Kiosk and provides an itemized receipt upon request.

Voice-Instruction throughout the entire transaction processing helps reduce customer confusion and you have the option of enabling marketing messages when the CDR is idle.

 

Point of Sale Kit (POS)

For operators that have an attendant on site or a wash-dry-fold center the point of sale (POS) kit is a great inexpensive way to sell and revalue customers WashCards or charge a credit card as a terminal charge. The kit includes a USB Keyboard with built-in credit card reader or a standalone card reader and a themeral receipt printer for providing receipts.

 

 

Virtual Storefront (VSF)

The VSF gives your customers the ability to print itemized credit card receipts from your website, sell and revalue prepaid WashCards, as well as manage things like multi-card family share plans or commercial business accounts. The VSF can be integrated into a new or existing website.
